Stephanie White Named May WNBA Coach of the Month

Uncasville, CT (June 2, 2023) – Connecticut Sun Head Coach Stephanie White was named the WNBA Coach of the Month for the month of May, the league announced today. This is the first WNBA Coach of the Month honor for White.

White, who is currently enjoying her first season at the helm of the Sun, led the team to a 4-1 record in May. The record marks the best start by a Connecticut Sun head coach in his or her first season in franchise history. The Sun entered June second overall in league standings and first place in Eastern Conference Commissioner’s Cup rankings.

White picked up her first victory as the Sun’s Head Coach at the Indiana Fever on May 19 in the 2023 season opener, winning 70-61. Her first head coaching position was with the Fever in 2015 and 2016, where she accumulated a 37-31 record over two seasons.

The Sun returned home to Mohegan Sun Arena on May 21 to defeat the Washington Mystics, 80-74. After the home opener, White notched two more wins in May, against the Mystics (5/23) and the Fever (5/30), while dropping a road game to the New York Liberty (5/27).

White and the Connecticut Sun are back in action on Sunday, June 4 at 1:00 PM ET against the Dallas Wings at Mohegan Sun Arena.
