Uncasville, CT (November 20, 2025) – The Connecticut Sun hosted gatherings for two community councils formed for fans and youth this week. Monday, November 17 marked the first event for the CT Sun Community Council. Connecticut Sun center Tina Charles and associate head coach Roneeka Hodges joined the community conversation to speak to fans and season ticket members about upcoming events and expectations for the 2026 season. Fans additionally expressed ways they can support the Sun off the court, including potential fundraising opportunities, and future activations they would like to take part in.

The Sun Ray Community Council had its first meeting on Wednesday, November 19 for local youth at the Mohegan Tribe Community Center. Youth enjoyed pizza, giveaways, and an appearance from Connecticut Sun guard Marina Mabrey. The conversation surrounded how the youth feel they can be more supported, how they can contribute to their communities, how the Sun can interact with the younger generation, and other topics of interest. Sun player development coach Bak Sawi also hosted a basketball clinic for all attendees. Attendees for both events at the Mohegan Tribe Community Center also brought canned goods and non-perishable items to donate for the holidays.

“In the place that I’m in, the community matters to me a lot. Especially having been young at one time and not having any WNBA players come to the gym, say hi to me, or anything. I just had to keep working, hope for the best and dream about it, think about what it might look like. So, whenever I see youth in the stands, or they want something signed or want to talk, I just try my best to show up to things. Even something like this event because it’s personable and authentic. Just being able to give youth someone to look to and talk to and feel like we’re also the same because I was that age at one point too,” said Marina Mabrey.
