Uncasville, CT (April 11, 2022) – Today, the Connecticut Sun announced that Keyona Hayes has signed a training camp contract extended by Head Coach and General Manager, Curt Miller.
Per team policy, no details were released.
“Keyona is a versatile post player with a high basketball IQ,” said Miller. “We are excited to have her in camp competing for a roster spot.”
The 6-1 forward from Marietta, Georgia is a former Miami Hurricane who left the school with more than 1,000 points and 750 rebounds, finishing her career ninth in rebounding and 21st in scoring in program history. Since then, Hayes has played for AS Villeurbanne (France), Charnay Basket Bourgogne (France), ZTE Noi Kosarlabda (Hungary) and Aluinvent DVTK Miskolc (Hungary).
Hayes appeared in eight Hungarian League games and four EuroCup games with Aluinvent DVTK Miskolc in the 2021-2022 season. In Hungarian League play, Hayes tallied an average of 22.3 points, 11.6 rebounds, three assists, and 2.8 steals per game in 31.5 minutes per game. In EuroCup action, she averaged a double-double with 17.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, two assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game in 31.7 minutes per game. Her performance landed her Hungarian A Division Player of the Week four times, Eurobasket.com All-Hungarian League Import Player of the Year, and Eurobasket.com All-Hungarian League First Team for the 2021 season.
