Joyner Holmes Accepts Qualifying Offer, Returning to Connecticut

Uncasville, CT (February 1, 2023) – Today, the Connecticut Sun announced that Joyner Holmes has signed a training camp contract extended by Sun General Manager, Darius Taylor. Per team policy, no details were released.

In her third season in the WNBA, Holmes appeared in 26 regular season contests for Connecticut. She finished the 2022 campaign with 53 points, 35 rebounds, 12 assists, eight steals and two blocks. Holmes notched a season-high nine points and a career-high three steals in a regular season victory over the Atlanta Dream on June 15. The UT-Austin standout made her first career WNBA playoff appearance during the 2022 season, logging minutes in seven contests and tallying six points, nine rebounds, five assists and one steal.  

 

Holmes is currently growing her game overseas this offseason as a member of the Italian League club, Dynamo Sassari. The 6-3 forward currently averages 17.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.5 steals and has put up 14 double-doubles for her team. In an 89-75 victory over Italian League opponent, Valdarno, Holmes notched a triple-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and one steal.  

 

The Connecticut Sun tip off the 2023 season on Friday, May 19 at the Indiana Fever at 7:00PM EST.
