UNCASVILLE, CT – (June 23, 2020) – It was announced today that the Connecticut Sun have signed Beatrice Mompremier.
“We are excited to add Beatrice to our Sun roster,” said head coach Curt Miller. “She is a young and talented post player with a high ceiling. Beatrice is a proven collegiate rebounder and crafty scorer who will have the ability to contribute during her rookie season.”
Mompremier, a University of Miami graduate, was drafted 20th overall by the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2020 WNBA Draft. The 6’4” forward played her first two years at Baylor University before transferring to Miami and back to her hometown.
During her time with the Canes, she posted 34 double-doubles, scored in double figures in 45 contests and grabbed double-digit rebounds in 35 games. As a senior, Mompremier averaged 16.8 points per game and 9.8 rebounds and as a junior she averaged 16.7 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. The 2020 Lisa Leslie Award Finalist, is just one of three Canes to score 1000 points and record 1000 rebounds. She is also Miami’s all-time leader in single-season rebounds and career rebounding average.
While at Baylor she averaged 8.3 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game as a sophomore. In her rookie year, Mompremier was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team, co-led the team in rebounds per game (6.1) and ranked fifth in points per game (7.2).
