Connecticut Sun to Partner with Microsoft
— Microsoft to be Presenting Sponsor of Connecticut Sun S.T.E.A.M. Event —
Uncasville, CT (April 7, 2023) – Today, the Connecticut Sun announced its partnership with Microsoft for the 2023 season.
Central to this partnership are the shared values of education; diversity and inclusion; and social responsibility that both organizations hold in high esteem. As such, Microsoft will be the presenting sponsor of the Connecticut Sun’s S.T.E.A.M. Event. The event will be held on Saturday, May 6 from 10:00AM – 2:00PM EST in the Mohegan Sun Earth Ballroom and will be a chance for kids and their families to experience all aspects of S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) in an interactive, exciting and educational way, introducing and engaging attendees with ideas, possibilities and people in S.T.E.A.M. fields that may be overlooked in traditional school systems. Every attendee will also receive a ticket to the Connecticut Sun Home Opener against the Washington Mystics at Mohegan Sun Arena at 1:00 PM EST on May 21.
“We are excited to be working with the Connecticut Sun to inspire youth to connect their interest in basketball with STEM education opportunities by showcasing how data analytics impacts the game,” said Amy Sorokas, Microsoft Director of Strategic Partnerships. “We are proud to support the Connecticut Sun S.T.E.A.M. Event which is a great way to get engaged with local opportunities.”
In addition to the Connecticut Sun S.T.E.A.M. event, Microsoft will be sponsoring an in-game content series that will feature an array of videos highlighting the ways that Microsoft’s technology and innovation can fuel the success of athletes at the highest level. The first of the two activations, “Day in the Life,” will highlight a day in the life of Connecticut Sun Head Athletic Trainer, Nicole Alexander, as she uses Microsoft Teams in connection with an athlete management system to treat Connecticut Sun players on a daily basis. The second activation will be “Crunch Time Player,” a video feature showcasing the Connecticut Sun player that had the best crunch-time performance the previous month, to be shared during the fourth quarter of one home game each month during the regular season.
“We are very excited to partner with Microsoft this season. Having the ability to not only foster the excitement our young fans already have for basketball, but also to encourage them to try new things, explore other interests, and seek different perspectives within the realm of basketball and beyond is truly special. We are grateful to have wonderful partners, like Microsoft, who share our values. – Morgan Tuck, Director of Franchise Development
