• Brionna Jones led the Sun with 14 first-half points, along with three rebounds, one assist and three steals. Taurasi finished the first half with 14 points, two rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block to lead the Mercury.
• The Mercury shot 50% (14-28) from the floor in the first half, while the Sun shot 41.9% (13-31).
• Both teams had six second-chance points and six fast-break points at the half. Phoenix had the slight edge in points in the paint, 20-18.
• The Sun’s bench outscored the Mercury’s bench, 15-4, in the first half.
• Connecticut began the third quarter on a 17-8 run, taking a 59-53 lead in to the first media timeout. DeWanna Bonner tallied seven of her 14 points to lead Connecticut in that five-minute stretch.
• The Sun and Mercury were knotted at 68 after three quarters of action. Connecticut outscored Phoenix, 26-23, in that ten-minute period. Alyssa Thomas had eight points to lead the Sun in the third.
• Phoenix opened the fourth on a 13-0 run. The Mercury held the Sun scoreless in the quarter until a pair of free throws from Jonquel Jones made it 81-70 with 6:18 to go in the contest.
• Connecticut fought back and finished the game on their own 23-7 run, taking home the victory, 92-88.
• The Sun outscored the Mercury, 24-20, in the final ten minutes of the game.
• Jones tied her season-high with 18 points, along with four rebounds, four assists and three steals in 29 minutes off the bench.
• Thomas flirted with a triple-double, notching her second-straight double-double with 13 points, ten rebounds and seven assists.
• Bonner had 14 points, four rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block in the victory against her former squad.
• Connecticut finished the night shooting 28-59 (47.5%), while Phoenix shot 28-62 (45.2%) from the field.
• The Sun outscored the Mercury in points in the paint (34-32), second-chance points (10-6), fast break points (11-10) and bench points (21-4).

NEXT GAME

The Connecticut Sun travel to Seattle to take on the Storm on Sunday, June 5 at 3PM PT/6PM ET at Climate Pledge Arena. The Sun will try to close out their four-game road trip with a win against the Storm, after going 0-3 versus Seattle in the 2021 regular season. The last time Connecticut beat Seattle was an 89-70 victory in Washington on August 27, 2019.
