Uncasville, CT (June 10, 2024) – Today, the Connecticut Sun announced its schedule of events and activations surrounding its historic game in Boston at TD Garden, presented by Meet Boston, as the Sun look to host the first professional women’s basketball game against the Los Angeles Sparks on August 20 at 7:00PM EST at the arena known for its rich basketball history. The festivities span across a four-day period from August 17-20, featuring a youth sports festival, Connecticut Sun watch party, and block party, in addition to the game itself.
To tip the events off, the Sun will be hosting its first Connecticut Sun Youth Sports Festival presented by Meet Boston at the New Balance Track (91 Guest St. Boston, MA 02135) on August 17 from 10:00AM-3:00PM EST. The festival will include 20-minute Sun Academy clinics running throughout the day; showcases from other sports teams such as the NWHL, PWHL, LGPA and Swarm Basketball; Science of Basketball STEM sessions powered by Microsoft; mental strength conditioning sessions sponsored by Daily Human; athlete wellness and conditioning session with Saysh; and Sun Academy Power Hour advanced sessions for an additional registration fee. Youth athletes can participate in all of these exciting activities by showing their previously purchased ticket to the August 20 game at TD Garden (tickets as low as $25, including taxes and fees) or by purchasing a ticket at the entrance to the festival. Admission to the event without a ticket will be $10, cash only. Parents and family will be permitted to attend with no charge.
On August 18, the Sun will be hosting a watch party on the lower level of Game On! Fenway (82 Lansdowne St. Boston, MA 02215) for Connecticut’s away game in Atlanta against the Dream at 3:00PM EST. The watch party will take place from 2:00-5:00PM EST, with chances to win prizes, tickets, and ticket upgrades, as well as an opportunity to cheer on the Sun with Team President, Jen Rizzotti. In addition to the excitement of the Boston game itself, August 20 will boast the Sun Block Party, a fan fest on Canal Street outside TD Garden from 3:00-7:00PM EST. The block party will be open to the public and hosted in partnership with the City of Boston and Meet Boston, with live music, fan giveaways, and lots of activities for families. Fans can expect to keep the entertainment high, leading into the Sun’s game against the Sparks, which will feature several activations from Microsoft, Walgreens and Swarm Basketball, as well as a special halftime performance (to be announced at a later date).
