Uncasville, CT (July 27, 2022) – The Connecticut Sun announced today that the team has signed Kiana Williams to a seven-day contract. Per team policy, no details were released.
Williams was drafted 18th overall in the 2021 WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm. She appeared in 10 games for the Storm during the 2021 regular season before being waived in late June. Prior to this season, she signed a training camp contract with the Phoenix Mercury, but was ultimately released at the end of camp. In May, Seattle signed Williams to a hardship contract, where she appeared in three games and averaged 1.7 points, 0.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
The 5-8 guard from San Antonio, TX, was a stand-out at Stanford University, averaging 13.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game over four seasons. Williams led Stanford to a National Championship and set the school record for three-pointers made (310) during her senior campaign.
Williams will wear number 23 for the Sun and will be available Thursday, July 28 to take on the Seattle Storm at 7:00 PM ET at Mohegan Sun Arena.
