Uncasville, CT (February 5, 2021) – The Connecticut Sun today announced that Brionna Jones has signed a multi-year contract.
Per team policy, terms were not released.

In addition to her outstanding work ethic, Bri is a great teammate and is a perfect fit within our culture.”
Succeeding a breakout season for the Sun, Jones returns to Connecticut for her fifth year in the league. During the condensed season in 2020, she appeared and started in 21 of the 22 regular season competitions and averaged a career-high 11.2 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, 1.7 steals per game and 1.0 assists. She finished third on the team in steals for both the regular and post season after she recorded 35 and 11, respectively. Jones tallied a career-high 20 points on two occasions, against Seattle (8/4) and Indiana (9/5). In addition, she grabbed a regular season career-high 11 rebounds against Seattle (8/16) and a postseason career-high 12 rebounds against Las Vegas (9/29).
Drafted by Connecticut as the eighth overall pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft, Jones has developed into a valuable inside presence for the Sun over her four-year stretch in the league. Over that time, she has appeared in 98 contests where she has accumulated 479 points, 268 rebounds, 39 assists, 59 steals and 29 blocks. Jones also has an overall shooting percentage of 54.5 and a free throw shooting percentage of 71.6.
The Maryland University graduate began the 2020 season with a considerable amount of responsibility. She was tasked with filling the vacancy of teammate Jonquel Jones who opted out of the season due to concerns surrounding COVID-19. The Most Improved Player candidate had a three-fold increase in points per game from 2019 to 2020 going from 3.5 to 11.2. Additionally, she gathered 5.6 rebounds a game, a 3.4 increase over 2019, as well as a rise of 1.4 steals per game.
