Uncasville, CT- Drafted 10th overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Connecticut Sun, Leïla Lacan officially joined the team in 2025 after fulfilling overseas team commitments, making her rookie debut for the Sun on July 6 against the Las Vegas Aces. From the moment she stepped on the court, Lacan proved to be a dynamic and impactful presence on both ends of the floor.

Across 25 games, including 15 starts, Lacan averaged 10.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and a team-leading 2.2 steals per game, while shooting an efficient 47.7% from the field. Her 2.2 steals per game led all rookies and ranked second in the entire WNBA, showcasing her elite defensive instincts and ability to disrupt opposing offenses.

The Rodez, France native recorded three games with 5+ steals, tying Gabby Williams for the most such performances by any player this regular season. On August 17 vs. Indiana, Lacan dished out a career-high 14 assists, setting a franchise record for the most assists by a rookie in a single game. She followed that up with back-to-back career-high 22-point performances on August 25 (vs. New York) and August 27 (vs. Dallas)—all while managing a left eye injury.

By the end of the 2025 regular season, Lacan joined Nykesha Sales and teammate Saniya Rivers as the only rookies in Sun history to record at least 250 points, 90 assists, and 55 steals in their debut season.

In recognition of her outstanding performance, Lacan was named to the Associated Press All-Rookie Team, capping off a standout first year and solidifying her status as one of the league’s most promising young talents.
