The Sun Stay Hot In Win Over Dallas

Uncasville – The Connecticut Sun are returning to the playoffs for the first time since 2012.

The combination of a 96-88 Connecticut victory over the Dallas Wings on Saturday night at Mohegan Sun Arena and an 84-68 victory by the San Antonio Stars over the Atlanta Dream later in the evening clinched a spot in the postseason for the Sun.

Seedings and playoff dates are still to be determined.

Alyssa Thomas (21 points, 13 rebounds) led Connecticut (17-9) in scoring with her third double-double of the season. The rebounds were a career high.

Jonquel Jones (19 points, 16 rebounds, five blocks) finished with her sixth straight double-double, her 16th of the season. The blocks tied a career-high.

Courtney Williams contributed 19 points while Shekinna Stricklen (15 points) and Alex Bentley (12 points) also reached double figures.

Jasmine Thomas returned from a left ankle sprain to provide a boost off the bench, scoring six points in limited minutes.

It was the fifth straight win and the eighth straight home victory for the Sun, who have now won 11 of 13.

Allisha Gray (21 points) and Glory Johnson (20 points, 12 rebounds) led the Wings (13-16).

Connecticut is on the road for its next game, traveling to Atlanta to face the Dream on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
