Sun Complete Undefeated Preseason

Bridgeport, CT — The Connecticut Sun closed out an undefeated preseason with a 74-58 win over the Atlanta Dream at Webster Bank Arena on Friday night.

Playing their third preseason game in five days, the Sun trailed early before taking control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring Atlanta 21-12 while building a 55-44 lead entering the final quarter.

Connecticut was never seriously pressed over the last 10 minutes.

“Our goal was to play our starters for about 20 minutes, which we stuck to,” Sun coach Curt Miller said. “I thought our defense, trying to contest a really athletic team was pretty solid. We tried some things against them that they exploited in the first half. This is the time to try some different things.”

Alex Bentley led the Sun with 11 points while Rachel Banham and Courtney Williams each had 10 points.

“It’s definitely exciting to be back,” Bentley said. “I just came from overseas. Me and Brionna Jones played for the same team and we just finished. We’re still in a rhythm.”

The Sun finished the preseason 3-0 and will now begin preparing for the regular season home opener on May 20th. The Sun will take on the Las Vegas Aces at 1 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena as part of #WNBAAllDay. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by clicking here.
