Sun Overseas Round Up – 3/18/16

Shekinna Stricklen came up with a big performance in Game 2 of the WKBL Finals last evening, collecting 27 points and 11 rebounds as Woorie Hansae improved to 2-0 in the series against Hanabank with a 71-57 victory.

Stricklen had 11 points, five rebounds and three assists in Game 1, a 66-51 victory on Wednesday.

Stricklen leads Woori Hansae (29-7) in scoring and rebounding, averaging 18.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Hanabank (20-16) finished second in the WKBL Standings during the season.

In Turkey on March 13th, Chelsea Gray had 12 points, four assists and four rebounds as Abdullah Gul edged Yakin Dogu, 80-74.

Alyssa Thomas had 15 points and seven rebounds for Yakin Dogu (7-14), and is averaging 16.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists. Kelsey Bone (13.4 points, 8.3 rebounds per game this season) finished with two points and four rebounds in the loss.

Gray is averaging 12.6 points, 4.7 assists and 3.9 rebounds for Abdullah Gul (15.6)

Elsewhere in Turkey on Wednesday, Alex Bentley (12.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists per game) had nine points as Gelistirenler defeated Canik Bld, 71-59. Gelistirenler is 9-13 in Turkish League play.

In Israel on Monday, Jasmine Thomas had another balanced effort with 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as Benot Hertzeliya (16-5) ran its winning streak to five games with an 81-57 rout of HR Le-Zion (6-15).

Tied for second overall in the Israel League Standings, Benot Hertzeliya has not lost since January 25th, when it was defeated by first-place Maccabi Ren. Thomas is averaging 16.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists.

In Italy, Camille Little is averaging 15.2 points and 6.4 rebounds for Ragusa (19-3),which is second in Italy Series A1. Ragusa has not played since posting a 66-56 win over Orvieto on March 6th. Little had seven points and four rebounds in that game. Ragusa is chasing first-place Lucca (22-1), where Kayla Pedersen is averaging 11.7 points and 7.2 rebounds.

In Austria, Kelly Faris is averaging 15 points through four games for Flying Foxes Post SV Wien (14-0). She is 20 of 45 from the field with three made threes.
