UNCASVILLE, CT (December 16, 2019) – The Connecticut Sun added another player to the overseas update this past week. Theresa Plaisance and Shaanxi began action in the WCBA.
Plaisance appeared in three games last week. Shaanxi defeated Fujian 84-77 behind 47 points and 27 rebounds from Plaisance. Later in the week they fell 103-76 to Shanghai and 95-82 to Shanxi. Against Shanxi, Plaisance scored 34 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and had three assists. In the loss against Shanghai, she scored 28 points, recorded 16 rebounds and had three steals.
On Wednesday, Dec. 11 Jonquel Jones and Morgan Tuck faced off in EuroLeague play. Jones and UMMC came out with a 112-56 win over Tuck and Cukurova. Jones had 10 points and nine rebounds and Tuck had 14 points and three rebounds.
The same day, Bri Jones and Alyssa Thomas grabbed a EuroLeague win with USK Praha over Castors Braine. USK defeated Castors Braine 102-62 behind 26 points, 18 rebounds and four steals from Thomas and 16 points, five rebounds and two steals from Jones. Thomas was later voted Fan MVP for her stellar performance.
In SBL play, Natisha Hiedeman and Lulea Basket captured their seventh straight victory in league action. They defeated Visby Ladies 98-51.
Saturday, Dec. 14 was filled with action for the Sun. Courtney Williams and Izmit fell to Fenebahce 85-66. Williams scored 31 points, had six rebounds and four assists.
UMMC defeated Dynamo Moscow 118-54, Jones did not see action that day.
USK Praha also captured a big win, defeating Sokol 103-76. Thomas tallied 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Jones scored 16 points, grabbed five rebounds and notched two assists.
Tuck and Cukurova fell to Cankaya in a close match, 71-70. Tuck scored 24 points, had eight rebounds and tallied three assists.
