Overseas Round Up Vol. 11

It was a light week of action for the Sun overseas but the competition was just as competitive as usual.

The week began with EuroLeague play on Wednesday, Jan. 22. UMMC and USK Praha battled for sole possession of the No. 1 spot in the league. This was the second time the Connecticut Sun power forward-center trio battled this season. UMMC came up victorious again this time defeating USK 88-65. In the win, Jonquel Jones scored six points, grabbed six rebounds, two steal and three blocks.

For USK, Bri Jones posted 12 points, 10 rebounds and added one assist and one steal. Alyssa Thomas recorded 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The same day Cukurova fell to TTT Riga, 83-51. Morgan Tuck did not play and as announced yesterday by Cukurova, Tuck’s contract has been mutually terminated due to an injury.

Jasmine Thomas is continuing to find her groove with Gorzow. In her team’s 86-66 win over Politech Gdanska on Saturday, Jan. 25, Thomas scored 16 points, dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds.

Courtney Williams and Izmit also competed on Saturday, but fell short to Adana BK, 96-79. Williams recorded 16 points, six rebounds and six assists.
