Uncasville, CT (February 27, 2023) – Natisha Hiedeman and Maccabi Ashdod fell to Israeli League opponent, Elitzur Ramla, 72-66 on Monday, February 20. Hiedeman finished with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and five steals as Maccabi Ashdod fell for the first time in Israeli League play this season.
Alyssa Thomas, Brionna Jones and USK Prague defeated Olympiacos, 85-54, in EuroLeague action on Wednesday, February 22. Jones led the way with 19 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Thomas notched 17 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals, as USK Prague moved to 9-4 in EuroLeague play. On Sunday, February 26, USK Prague defeated Czech League opponent, Trutnov, 108-31. Jones led her team once again, this time with 22 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Thomas added 12 points, six rebounds, one assist and two steals.
Lauren Cox and Valencia fell to Fenerbahce in their EuroLeague matchup of the week, 93-61, on Wednesday, February 22. Cox finished with five points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in the effort. On Sunday, February 26, Valencia defeated Spanish League opponent, Estudiantes, 71-65. Cox tallied 13 points and three rebounds in the win.
DeWanna Bonner, Tiffany Hayes and CBK Mersin defeated Uni Girona, 75-73, in overtime in EuroLeague play on Wednesday, February 22. Bonner had 12 points, 10 rebounds and one steal. Hayes notched 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal. With the win, CBK Mersin qualified for a spot in the EuroLeague quarterfinals.
Olivia Nelson-Ododa and the Melbourne Boomers dropped a contest to Southside, 81-67, on Wednesday, February 22. Nelson-Ododa tallied three points, three rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block in the loss. On Saturday, February 25, the Melbourne Boomers defeated the Canberra Capitals, 103-95. Nelson-Ododa finished with seven points, five rebounds, one assist and two blocks.
Mikiah Herbert Harrigan and the London Lions handily defeated the Cardiff Met Archers, 133-75, on Sunday, February 26. Herbert Harrigan led her team with 31 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks in the win.
Connecticut Sun players are back in overseas action this week beginning with Hiedeman and Maccabi Ashdod playing Ramat Hasharon at 12:00 PM EST on February 27. On March 1, Bonner, Hayes and CBK Mersin take on Mechelen at 11:00 AM EST; Jones, Thomas and USK Prague match up against Virtus Bologna at 1:00 PM EST; and Cox and Valencia take on Olympiacos at 2:00 PM EST. Thomas, Jones and USK Prague play Slavia Prague at 11:00 AM EST; Cox and Valencia match up against Ciudad de La Laguna at 1:15 PM EST; and Nelson-Ododa and the Melbourne Boomers take on Sydney at 9:00 PM EST on March 4. To close out the week, Herbert Harrigan and the London Lions play the Oaklands Wolves at 7:30 AM EST on March 5.
