Mohegan Sun Front And Center On New Nike Jersey

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (April 10, 2018) — As the WNBA begins its first season wearing uniforms designed by Nike, the Connecticut Sun announced today that Mohegan Sun will return as the marquee sponsor on the front of the jersey.

The new jersey will be revealed at the 2018 WNBA Draft on April 12 in New York. The Sun currently hold picks nine, 15 and 33.

Mohegan Sun will replace Frontier Communications, which was introduced as the marquee sponsor of the team in July of 2015.

“Frontier Communications has been, and continues to be, an engaged partner of the Sun,” Connecticut Sun Vice President Amber Cox said. “As their marketing objectives shifted, the opportunity presented itself to provide Mohegan Sun with the primary jersey position. In a year when we are debuting our Nike uniforms and continue to expand our local and national TV exposure in this competitive market, showcasing our home was a no-brainer for the Mohegan Tribe and leadership team.”

The Connecticut Sun will tip off its 16th season in the state by leading off #WNBAAllDay on Sunday, May 20th at 1 p.m. A 21-win playoff team in 2017, the Sun host the Las Vegas Aces (formerly the San Antonio Stars) as the first game on a day in which all 12 WNBA teams will be in action for the first time in league history.

“Mohegan Sun takes a great deal of pride in being home to one of the WNBA’s most storied franchises,” Mohegan Sun President and General Manager Ray Pineault said.

“It has been a huge success, both in wins and in building an incredible fan base in Connecticut and beyond. To return as the marquee sponsor on the new Nike uniforms for the 2018 season is a thrill, and we’re excited to see the team take them across the country!”

Season tickets for 2018 start as low as $22 per game and are available now.
