UNCASVILLE, Conn. (September 29, 2017) – The WNBA announced today that Connecticut Sun forward Jonquel Jones was named to the All-WNBA Second Team.
The WNBA’s Most Improved Player in 2017, Jones had a record-setting season. A first-time All-Star this year, she set single-season league records with 11.9 rebounds per game, 403 total rebounds and 280 defensive rebounds.
In just her second professional season, Jones averaged 15.4 points and helped the Sun reach the playoffs for the playoffs for the first time since 2012. She tied for the league lead with 20 double-doubles in 2017 and in May became just the 13th player in league history to record a 20 point, 20 rebound game in Connecticut’s victory at Chicago.
The All-WNBA First Team is headlined by league MVP Sylvia Fowles. She is joined on the team by Tina Charles, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Candace Parker and Maya Moore. Joining Jones on the second team are Nneka Ogwumike, Chelsea Gray, Brittney Griner and Diana Taurasi.
