Elonu Signed, Gray Waived By Sun

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (May 9, 2017) – The Connecticut Sun announced today it has signed 6-foot-1 forward Adaora Elonu to a training camp contract.

To make room on the 15-player training camp roster, the Sun waived forward Reshanda Gray. The Sun must cut down to their final roster of 12 by Friday at 5 p.m.

Elonu just completed her overseas commitment with Perfumerias Avenida, which captured the Spanish League championship. In 17 FIBA EuroLeague games, she averaged 13.8 points and 5.4 rebounds helping her team reach the quarterfinals of the FIBA EuroLeague tournament.

The Nigerian-born Elonu was a member of the 2011 Texas A&M team that captured the NCAA Championship. She averaged 11.6 points and 6.2 rebounds as a senior in 2011-12, and went on the play for the Nigerian National team later in 2012. She has since played internationally for professional teams in Israel and Spain.
