On Tuesday, Sun head coach and general manager Curt Miller will be honored by the Los Angeles Clippers at their first Pride Night. Prior to the game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Miller will participate in a panel discussion focused on the experiences of both LGBTQ+professionals and amateurs in sports. Joining him on the panel, moderated by Jason Jaramillo of Lambda Basketball, will be former WWE wrestler Fred Rosser, Paralympian Angela Madsen and Gonzaga professor and former coach Dr. Julie Shaw.
During the game, Miller will be presented with the inaugural Clippers Award for Equality and Diversity. This award is for an individual or organization who is notable for making significant contributions to the LGBTQ+ community and has strong ties to the team or city. Not only is Miller the first openly gay male coach of a professional team, he also coached in Los Angeles and serves as a mentor to several coaches throughout California.
