Drafted: Selected eighth overall in the 2016 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury on April 14, 2016. Traded to Connecticut Sun in June 2016. Traded to the Atlanta Dream in February 2020 as a part of a multi-team trade with Connecticut and Phoenix. Signed a one-year deal with the Connecticut Sun in February 2022.

Season Highlights: 

Courtney Williams returned to Connecticut in 2022 after playing two seasons with Atlanta in 2020 and 2021. The seven-year veteran felt right at home back with the Sun appearing and starting in 34 regular season contests. Williams tallied her 2,500th career-point in a win over Minnesota (7/22), which was also her 200th game played in the WNBA. She also eclipsed 1,000 rebounds and 600 assists in her career during 2022 regular season play. Through 12 playoff contests, the mid-range specialist moved into ninth in scoring (303), ninth in rebounding (107), sixth in assists (68) and 11th in games played in Connecticut Sun postseason history. 

Most Notable Performances: 

  • May 28: Williams dished out a season-high seven assists in a 79-71 victory over the Washington Mystics.  
  • June 15: In a 93-68 win over the Atlanta Dream, Williams grabbed her 1,000th career rebound.
  • July 5: Williams tallied a season-high 25 points on 12-17 shooting (70.6%) in an 82-71 loss to the Dallas Wings on the road. 
  • September 6: In a win-or-go-home Game 4 in the WNBA Semifinals against the Chicago Sky, Williams led the Sun with 19 points, along with four rebounds and three assists.
