Sun Fall At Liberty

New York – Jonquel Jones picked up her 11th double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds but the Connecticut Sun fell to the New York Liberty 96-80 on Tuesday morning at Madison Square Garden.

Lynetta Kizer scored 11 points, including her 1,000th career point with 33.6 seconds remaining in the third quarter. She was joined in double-figures by Alyssa Thomas with 10 points. Jasmine Thomas had nine points to go along with three assists while Courtney Williams and Danielle Adams each added eight.

The Liberty (10-9) were led by Tina Charles with 28 points and 17 rebounds. Shavonte Zellous had 16 points, six assists and five rebounds for New York.

The Sun (12-9) led early, but New York came back to tie it up at 24 all at the end of the first quarter. The Liberty took control in the second quarter, increasing their lead to 20, 74-54, at the break. Connecticut was not able to get any closer than 13 the rest of the way.
