The Connecticut Sun will hold open tryouts for all three dance teams on Saturday, April 19 at Mohegan Sun.
The Solar Power, Sun Beams (junior dance team) and Sunsationals (senior dance team) will perform at Connecticut Sun home games during the 2020 season, as well as represent the team at various community events in the local media.
All auditions will be held in the Mohegan Sun Cabaret and each team will have a designated timeslot for registration and auditions.
The Solar Power Dance team will kick off the day with registration at 8am followed by tryouts from 8:30am-12pm. Available to perform at every home game, the Solar Power squad is comprised of dancers ages 17 and up and have both hip-hop and technical dance backgrounds.
At 12:30pm, registration for the Sun Beams’ will start with auditions for enthusiastic boys and girls being held from 1-3pm.
To wrap up the day, the Sunsationals, which is made up of men and women ages 50+, will begin registration at 3:30pm and have tryouts from 4-6pm. Candidates for the Sunsationals will learn a short group routine and perform before the panel of judges.
All dancers must pay a $10 non-refundable registration fee. They must also provide a non-returnable 5×7 headshot and current dance resume, and must be able to commit to all Sun home games and scheduled practices as well as community appearances, a photo shoot and other scheduled events. Dancers should wear active wear, a t-shirt and dance sneakers or tennis shoes with non-marking soles. Those who are chosen will be notified by email the following week. Results will also be posted on the Sun’s social media channels.
