Connecticut Sun Media Day

The Connecticut Sun officially tipped off its 14th season in the state Thursday with Media Day at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Players, coaches and front office personnel from the Sun were all on hand to meet with local television, print and on-line media outlets. Only Alex Bentley, Camille Little and Aneika Henry-Morello – still involved with overseas commitments – were not in attendance.

First-year head coach Curt Miller will guide a young team anchored by returning All Stars Alex Bentley and Kelsey Bone, and 2014 Rookie of the Year Chiney Ogwumike.

Bone and Ogwumike, incoming rookies Morgan Tuck, Rachel Banham, Jonquel Jones, Jamie Weisner and Aliyyah Handford, returning veterans Alyssa Thomas, Jasmine Thomas and Shekinna Stricklen, and free agent signees Heather Butler, Victoria Macaulay and Jennifer O’Neill have been participating in training camp since practice began on Monday.

The Connecticut Sun open the preseason with games on May 4th at 7 p.m. against the Chicago Sky and May 5th at 7 p.m. against San Antonio.  Those games are part of a two-day doubleheader. Atlanta will play the Stars at 5 p.m. on May 4th and the Dream and Sky will tipoff at 5 p.m. on May 5th.

Connecticut opens the 2016 regular season in Chicago on May 14th. The Sun play their first home game on May 21st at Mohegan Sun Arena, hosting the Washington Mystics at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting connecticutsun.com or calling 877-SUN-TIXX.
