Connecticut Sun Hosts Basketball for Free Clinics in Partnership with Fidelity Investments, Inc.

Uncasville, CT (February 15, 2023) – Today, the Connecticut Sun announced the organization will host two “Basketball for Free” clinics this February in partnership with Fidelity Investments, the Sun’s Official Community Wealth Partner.

“We’re excited to support women-centered organizations like the WNBA and the Connecticut Sun to continue investing in the next generation,” says Pamela Everhart, Head of Community Relations and Regional Public Affairs at Fidelity Investments. “Our work is grounded in authentically partnering with communities that know best what their needs are and building trusted relationships with organizations based on transparency and mutual learning. We are taking steps to provide access and opportunity that reduce barriers and empower youth to achieve their highest potential.”

The first of the two clinics will take place in Rhode Island at the Boys and Girls Club of Cumberland-Lincoln (1 James J. Mckee Way, Cumberland, RI, 02864) on Thursday, February 23 from 1:00-2:30PM EST. Children from the Boys and Girls Club of Cumberland-Lincoln will work with Keith Porter, co-founder of Progression Training, LLC; Connecticut Sun Director of Franchise Development and Assistant General Manager, Morgan Tuck; and other Connecticut Sun front office members to learn new concepts and skills to take their game to the next level.

Two days later, on Saturday, February 25; Tuck, Porter and other front office members will be working with children from The BASE–an urban academy that leverages sports as a vehicle to engage youth in a positive, success-driven culture–at the Orchard Gardens Boys and Girls Club (2 Dearborn Street, Roxbury, MA 02119) in Boston from 11:00-1:15PM EST. This clinic will be split into two sessions, with the beginner (0-2 years’ experience) session taking place from 11:00-12:00PM EST and the advanced (3+ years’ experience) happening from 12:15-1:15PM EST.

Participants at both clinics will receive a free basketball and a Connecticut Sun t-shirt.

“We are excited to join Fidelity Investments in bringing these free resources and instruction to young people across New England. Pushing the game forward, not only in Connecticut but throughout New England, is a huge focus for us; and by finding ways to do so at no cost to these young people who may not be able to access these resources under normal circumstances is something the Connecticut Sun is extremely proud of.” – Morgan Tuck, Connecticut Sun Director of Franchise Development and Assistant General Manager
