Season Highlights: 

The 2021 WNBA Most Improved Player, Brionna Jones, picked up where she left off during the 2022 season. The 6-3 forward was named the WNBA and AP Sixth Player of the Year after averaging 13.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 25.1 minutes per game coming off the bench for Connecticut. Jones also finished second in offensive rebounding (2.6) and fourth in field goal percentage (56.9%) in the WNBA season. During her sixth year in the league, Jones tallied her 1,000th point, 600th rebound and 100th assist in regular season play. She also moved up in the Sun postseason record books, finishing 2022 in 11th in points (248), seventh in rebounds (123), fifth in steals (31) and third in games played (31). 

Most Notable Performances:  

  • May 22: Jones notched her 1,000th career-point in a 92-70 win over the Indiana Fever, finishing the contest with 18 points to put her over the century mark.  
  • June 3: In a 92-88-win over the Phoenix Mercury, Jones tied her career-high by dishing out four assists. She also added 18 points, four rebounds and three steals to lead the Sun to victory.  
  • June 30: With four rebounds in a loss to Chicago, Jones eclipsed 600 total rebounds in her six-year WNBA career.  
  • July 19: Jones tied a season-high with 21 points in an 82-63 win over the New York Liberty. She also added eight rebounds, one assist and one steal.
