Williams, Tuck Enjoyed Weekend Camp Trip

The USA Basketball Women’s National Team wrapped up a three-day minicamp in Columbia, South Carolina on Sunday. Morgan Tuck and Courtney Williams of the Connecticut Sun were among the 22 players who participated.

“It was really fun,” Tuck said. “Just to come and learn from some of the best players who have been Olympians over and over is a great opportunity.”

A total of 29 athletes, including Connecticut’s Chiney Ogwumike, have been named to the 2017-20 USA Basketball Women’s National Team pool, from which the 2018 USA World Cup team is expected to be selected.

“It was an amazing time,” said Williams, who was impressed with the intensity of the older players. “I think some people like to think, ‘OK, they’re vets, they’re not going to go as hard,’ but man, they stay competitive. The atmosphere was very competitive.”

Connecticut Sun General Manager and Head Coach Curt Miller, who was chosen to serve on the 2017-20 USA Basketball Women’s National Team Player Selection Committee, was also in attendance.
