The 2017 Sun season may be over, but the players are already getting ready for their upcoming overseas commitments. Find out below where your favorite players will be spending their offseason.
Three members of the Sun are trying to keep summer going all year long and will spend the upcoming months in Australia. Courtney Williams, fresh off an appearance at USA Basketball training camp, is heading to Perth and will be a member of the Perth Lynx. She’ll tip off against fellow Sun guard Rachel Banham, who is spending her first season overseas with the Bendigo Spirit. She is joined on that team by former Sun guard Kelsey Griffin. Forward Kayla Pedersen is returning to Australia for a second time with the Dandenong Rangers. All three teams will start their regular season later this week.
Alex Bentley and Brionna Jones will continue to be teammates, this time in Russia for Nadezhda Orenburg. They won their first game on October 1st, 59-42 over Enisey.
For the second consecutive season, Alyssa Thomas will return to South Korea as a member of the Samsung Life Blue Minx.
Sun guard Jasmine Thomas will be spending the offseason in Turkey for Ormanspor. The team will open the season on October 7th.
In China, Jonquel Jones will be playing for the Shanxi Flame. She’ll be joined in China by teammate Lynetta Kizer, who will be spending the offseason with Shandong Sports Lottery.
In her first season overseas, Morgan Tuck will be in China.
Sun draft pick Leticia Romero will be in the Czech Republic, playing for USK Praha. In her first three games, the guard is averaging 10.3 points and 6.3 assists.
