Sun Waive Buss

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (May 8, 2018) — The Connecticut Sun announced today Tyra Buss has been waived.

“Considering my history with Tyra, the decision to waive her was tough,” Sun head coach and general manager Curt Miller said. “However, I shared with Tyra this isn’t the end but only the beginning of her pro career. She proved she could compete at this level in her eight practices and I was impressed how fast she connected in the locker room with our veterans. I am confident she will work hard to take her game to the next level.”

Buss was signed to a training camp contract on April 24 after a standout career at Indiana University. The program record holder in seven statistical categories, including points, the guard led IU to a WNIT Championship following the 2017-18 season.

The Sun will be in action next tonight against the Dallas Wings in the second game of a preseason doubleheader at Mohegan Sun Arena. The first game, featuring the New York Liberty against the Los Angeles Sparks, will tip-off at 5 p.m.

The Connecticut Sun will tip off its 16th season in the state by leading off #WNBAAllDay on Sunday, May 20 at 1 p.m. A 21-win playoff team in 2017, the Sun will look to start fast, taking on the Las Vegas Aces (formerly the San Antonio Stars) as the first game on a day in which all 12 WNBA teams will be in action for the very first time.
