Arlington, Texas – Alyssa Thomas finished with 19 points and Jonquel Jones picked up her sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds but it was not enough as the Connecticut Sun fell to the Dallas Wings 96-82 on Sunday.
The loss snapped a five game winning streak by the Sun (6-6).
Alyssa Thomas’ 19 points were one off her season-high, set at Minnesota on June 17th. She also had five rebounds and five assists in the loss for Connecticut. She and Jones were joined in double-figures by Courtney Williams with 14 and Shekinna Stricklen with 13. Jasmine Thomas had six points and six assists for the Sun.
The Sun trailed by just two at the end of the first. Alyssa Thomas had nine of her points in the quarter, including the teams first four and eight of their first 12. Dallas (8-8) took control during the second quarter and took a 10 point advantage, 49-39, into the break.
Connecticut opened the third quarter strong, cutting the Dallas lead to just two,51-49, with 6:28 left in the frame, but the Wings powered back with a run of their own to take a 70-60 lead at the end of the third. Dallas expanded its lead in the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 17 before it was over.
