Sun Stifle Fever

Uncasville — Chiney Ogwumike and Jonquel Jones each scored 21 points as the Connecticut Sun rolled to a 101-89 victory over the Indiana Fever on Wednesday night at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Ogwumike also had 10 rebounds, collecting her fourth double-double of the season. Meanwhile, Jones set a new career-high with five made three-pointers, and also had seven rebounds and five assists.

Courtney Williams (13 points, six rebounds, four assists), Shekinna Stricklen (12 points on four made threes) and Jasmine Thomas (10 points, six assists) contributed to a balanced scoring attack as Connecticut shot 35-of-63 from the field with a season-high 13 made three-pointers.

The 13 made threes is tied for third most in franchise history, and ties a franchise record for a Fever opponent.

Playing the second game of a back-to-back and the third game in four days, the Sun (9-5) jumped out to an 11-0 lead 1:52 into the game, and never looked back on the way to completing a three-game sweep of the Fever (1-14).

The Fever trailed by as much as 24 in the second half, and never got closer than 10 at any point after halftime.

Victoria Vivians led the Fever with a career-high 25 points and tied a career-high with five three-pointers. Kelsey Mitchell (15 points) and Candice Dupree (14 points) also contributed.

The Sun begin a four-game road trip on July 1 at Seattle. The trip continues with visits to Los Angeles (7/3), Phoenix (7/5) and Las Vegas (7/7).

Connecticut returns home to host New York on July 11th. Game time is set for 11:30 a.m.
