Elizabeth Williams had 15 points and 10 rebounds on 7-of-10 shooting as Istanbul Universitesi pulled out an 87-80 win over Orduspur in a Turkish League play on Sunday.
Williams is averaging 13.8 points and 10.8 rebounds in league play for Istanbul, which is 9-7. In FIBA Eurocup Group D, Istanbul is 6-0 and Williams is averaging 13.6 points and 10.0 rebounds.
Elsewhere in Turkey, Chelsea Gray had 15 points and 10 assists as Abdullah Gul improved to 12-4 with a 79-69 victory over Canik Bld on Saturday. Gray is averaging 12 points, five assists and 4.4 rebounds in league action. In FIBA EuroLeague Group B, Abdullah Gul fell to 5-6 with a 72-62 loss to Girona on January 20th. The Sun guard is averaging 12.2 points and 3.7 assists in six EuroLeague contests.
Also in Turkey, Kelsey Bone (16 points, six rebounds) and Alyssa Thomas (15 points, eight rebounds) could not help Yakin Dogu (4-12) avert another loss Sunday as Besiktas cruised to a 90-62 victory. Thomas is averaging 16.4 points and 11.4 rebounds while Bone is averaging 13.4 points and 8.6 rebounds.
In South Korea, Shekinna Stricklen turned in a huge effort on January 20th, collecting 33 points on 9-of-23 shooting with 13 rebounds and three assists as first-place Woori Bank Hansae (20-3) held on for a 65-61 win over surprisingly-tough KB All Stars (10-13). Stricklen is averaging 17.6 points and 7.5 rebounds, for Woori Bank Hansae, which was set to play S-Birds on January 25th.
On Sunday in Italy, Camille Little’s first-place Ragusa team collected its 11th straight win, 81-64, over Battipaglia. The veteran forward had seven points, five rebounds and four steals in the win, and is averaging 15.7 points and 6.3 rebounds. Ragusa is 15-1.
Kayla Pedersen helped Lucca stay even with Ragusa on Sunday, finishing with nine points, eight rebound and three steals in a 75-49 victory over Vigarano. Pedersen is averaging 11.8 points and 7.1 rebounds for Lucca (15-1), which has won five straight since losing to Ragusa on December 19th.
In Israel on January 21st, Bnot Hertzeliya prepared for another showdown with first-place Maccabi Hen by cruising to a 78-69 victory over Elitzur Holon. Jasmine Thomas had 17 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the victory, and she is averaging 16.7 points, eight rebounds and 6.4 assists on the year.
Bnot Hertzeliya (11-4) will face Maccabi Hen (14-1) tonight. It is 0-2 this season against the first-place team from Israel, including a 77-65 loss on January 4th.
In Poland, Nikki Greene had 10 points and seven rebounds for Polkowicz (12-4) in a 79-53 loss to first-place Wisla Krakow on Saturday.
On January 14th, Kelly Faris made her debut in Austria for the Flying Foxes, scoring 15 points while picking up seven rebounds and three steals.
