Sun Fall In Phoenix

Phoenix – The Connecticut Sun fell to the Phoenix Mercury 86-66 at Talking Stick Arena on Friday night.
Alyssa Thomas led the way for the Sun (21-12) with 19 points on the night while rookie Brionna Jones had a career-high 13 points off the bench. Shekinna Stricklen added nine points for Connecticut while Jonquel Jones had nine rebounds and five points. Jones, who now needs six rebounds in the final game of the regular season to break the WNBA rebounding record, spent much of the first half on the bench with foul trouble.
Brittany Griner led the Mercury (17-16) with 31 points, eight rebounds and five assists. She was joined in double-figures by Diana Taurasi with 15 and Yvonne Turner with 13. Phoenix led the entire game.
The Sun will close out the regular season on Sunday in Los Angeles, taking on the Sparks at 4 p.m. ET. The game can be watched live on WCCT.
