Sun To Celebrate 15th Season On June 29th

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (June 15, 2017) – The Connecticut Sun will celebrate its 15th season in the WNBA with some help from returning legends Nykesha Sales, Rebecca Lobo and Katie Douglas, who will all be on hand June 29th when the Seattle Storm visit Mohegan Sun Arena at 8p.m. for an ESPN2-televised game.

Sales and Douglas will take part in an on-court interview at halftime of the game. Lobo will be serving as an analyst for the first ESPN2 broadcast of a Sun game at Mohegan Sun Arena since July 2, 2013.

Free commemorative 15th season t-shirts, supplied by Coke, will be available while supplies last. The t-shirt design (seen below) will feature the names of the 2003 Sun roster. The amazing Joe Everson, who paints while singing, will perform the National Anthem.

Sales, Lobo and Douglas all played a key role in helping the franchise establish itself in a new market after Mohegan Sun purchased the Orlando Miracle and relocated it to Connecticut prior to the 2003 season.

Sales is the all-time leading scorer in franchise history, finishing her career with 3,955 points, and she holds an array of other Sun career records. She was the first player assigned to the expansion Orlando roster in 1998, and played her entire career with the franchise.

Douglas was the last active member of the Orlando Miracle, returning to the Sun in 2014 for her final WNBA season. Earlier in her career, she was a crucial part of Connecticut teams that won 106 regular season games from 2003-07, leading the Sun in scoring in 2006 and 2007.

Lobo was part of the first trade in Sun franchise history when she was acquired from the Houston Comets on February 14, 2003. She served as a high-profile face of the franchise in her final WNBA season.

Tickets start at just $14 for all Sun home games. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 877-SUN-TIXX or CLICK HERE.
